For the past two weeks my niece has been trying to pass her drivers test, one little mistake and the tester would stop the testing and fail her. The first time she didn't use her side mirrors enough! So she finally got a good tester and passed today. To celebrate we gave Bogey a copy of the driver's manual and let him have fun!!

                                                                             

Happy 4th of July!!!

Today we participated with our wonderful church in the Schertz 4th of July Parade!! It was a lot of fun! We are also working on a portable play stand for Bogey this weekend! Jeff has many honey do projects when he is home!!

Today Bogey discovered his freedom! I have been putting his play stand by the living room chairs and he has always played and talked from up on the stand, today he became brave. It all started when Vickie decided to have an early lunch, she was busy reading and forgot to eat breakfast. Bogey decided that what she was eating smelled good, so he made his way to her chair back, leaned over and barked at her and looked in her like he was saying "want some".

So I fixed him his lunch and put him back on his stand.

After lunch, he explored the other chair, then the couch, and finally the end table with all the fun things on it. He was having a blast. We quickly clearned off the end table and put his toys on it, he has been playing on it all afternoon. 


And I had been worried that he didn't play enough!

Not a good day June 24, 2011

Today wasn't not a good day according to Bogey. I went to a Quilting Shop Hop, and though he wasn't alone, he didn't have a very good day. He was fine for the first few hours but then decided that he had enough of his mommy being going. He started throwing a tantrum. Being extremely loud and trying to tear up things. He also started striking at everyone and even bit Sondra. Who called me frantic on what to do to calm him.

After making sure that he was safe in his cage, and that Sondra wasn't hurt too badly, I headed home, since I was in Austin it did take me some time to get home. But as soon as I got home, he was fine, had some of my dinner and decided mommy came back!!!

So I had to cut my shopping trip short, but had a fun day.

Snakes Oh My!! June 23, 2011

Today I went out to move the recycle bin to the curb, underneath it I found 4 baby coppery colored snakes. I called our friend Robert and he came over and said that they might be copperheads... so he helped us safely catch all but one. He went underground. So I called the local animal control at the sheriff’s office, and officer came right over and identified them as some type of "look alike" snake, but just a grass snake. He took them to turn them loose in an open field. He said even if they were copperheads they would take them to the local snake farm to live out their lives. It turned out to be a pretty cool experience.

Book recommendation June 21, 2011

Yesterday Sondra and my niece were playing the new Nancy Drew game. Bogey is really settling in and getting very vocal. So here he is going through all his sounds. Lydia, finally gets fed up and says "Will you just be Quiet!"  Bogey looks right at her and said "No!" and goes right back to all his sounds. Lydia looks at me and says "I think I was just Sassed!" The look on her face was priceless. I thinks she is finally getting the fact that Bogey knows what he is saying LOL

Cop shows are fun!! June 20,2011

Today, we were watching V’s new favorite show “Castle” she loves cop shows right now, well guess who also loves them? Bogey, during today’s show they had a shoot-out… Bogey threw all he had at the bad guys, lasers, phasers, large guns, small guns, bombs he was serous! But at the end of the shoot-out, we all laughed so hard for Bogey yelled “Get on the Ground”, before Becket could!!

I think he is starting to make himself at home!

We also had this conversation, when I was trying to take him off his play-stand so we could run a few errands.

Me: Bogey you need to go to your cage?
Bogey: No
Me: Bogey hop up?
Bogey stares at me, doesn’t hop up
Me: Bogey are you going to bite me?
Bogey: Yep
Bogey: laughs
Me: Humphrey Bogart you hop up, now.
Bogey hops up

Finding out what a Bogey likes and hates! June 17, 2011

Yesterday was our settling in day, so we didn’t try anything new or different, we just kept thing calm and quiet. Today we found out that Bogey likes TV, his new play stand, and music. He also loves to cuddle with his mommy, though he is a typical bratty little brother to his oldest sister S. He and V are just learning about each other. He loves that our Pom will come running when he whistles, and tells her “good dog!!” which she thinks is also much fun!! The shepherd would really like to know what Bogey is, but keeps getting her nose nipped, but does listen to Bogey when he says “down” and “No” now. He also had no idea what a cat is, and our cats aren’t sure what he is LOL! So they basically ignore each other.

How Bogey came Home June 16, 2011

On Wednesday night we answered a Craigslist AD, from a husband whose wife was very ill and they were going to need to re-home their 4 year old African Grey. They were both heartbroken at this decision, because the husband for several months had been trying to take care of Bogey but Bogey just wouldn’t let him. I knew what that decision was like, as we had to make the same decision recently with our Conure, since Jeff has been traveling so much, she just wasn’t a happy bird, she went from a charming loveable goof, to a very unhappy, screaming terror. Who wouldn’t let anyone touch her, and refused food. The only time she was happy was when Jeff was home for a visit, which were too short and not frequent enough for any of us. But we tried for months to make it work, but though the girls and I were happy to keep her, she wasn’t happy… So tears streaming we did the best thing for her, the only thing we could do. We gave her up, we gave her the OK to bond with someone else, to be happy…

Now here I was facing a couple making the same hard decision, and it sucks… But we promised to give him a good home, and they are welcome in our house anytime they want to visit. Though they live 3 hours away… The wife couldn’t even stay in the room as we talked about his schedule, food likes and dislikes, all things Bogey. It was arranged for us to drive out and pick him up the next day, as they wanted one more night as a family.

On the way home, the husband called he would bring Bogey to us, as his wife just couldn’t handle a public goodbye.  We would meet at the hardware store on the edge of town at about noon.

So on Thursday, with tears in all eyes, Humphrey Bogart (Bogey) came home.
